With climate emergencies being declared across the county, Friends of the Earth’s new report identifies 33 of the most effective things that local councils can do to tackle climate change.

From setting ambitious targets for greenhouse gas emissions, developing robust carbon reduction pathways and delivering on these, local councils can lead the charge in tackling climate change.

In 2012, the Committee for Climate Change recommended that the Government should provide local authority with the resources and the statutory duty to tackle climate change.
