At the launch event of Zero Carbon Yorkshire in February 2016, 32 Open Space conversations were held exploring most of the major areas of work which will be needed to realise the goal of a Zero Carbon Yorkshire region.

Based on these conversations, a number of working groups were proposed – some of these are already operating, others are in formation and we are looking for energy and expertise to get these up and running.

Statistic: Yorkshire & Humber Carbon Emissions fallen by 37% since 2005

Aim: To Reach Net-Zero by 2050 , Thereby Limiting Warming to 1.5°C

Impact: Flying Produces 92 kg of CO2 Per Passenger Per Hour.

“It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the Earth. I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth. I didn’t feel like a giant. I felt very, very small.”
